Dems Rally & Cookout Rained Out But You Can Still Critique My Speech :)

Me - at the other place I "preach" (to the youth group)
Me - at the other place I "preach" (to the youth group)

Sadly, the cookout was rained out and won't be rescheduled. So, I thought I would share here what I had planned to share with you that night. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Huntersville's future. Send me an email or fill out a form here on my site. I'll get back to you and hope I'll have the opportunity to meet you at town hall in the near future. Our meetings are on the first and 3rd Tuesday each month. Join me there!

We missed the burgers but here's something to chew on (and share).

If you know me, you know I like to laugh, I like to smile, and I like to keep things real. But tonight, I want to let you in on something people don’t always hear from me; I actually did my homework before I ever thought about serving in office.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Political Science and Government, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. I even made the Dean’s List for both. (Yes, my mama was proud!) Today, I work for Mecklenburg County as a Program Integrity Investigator and Certified Welfare Fraud Investigator. That means I know government, how it works, how it sometimes doesn’t, and what it takes to fix it.

But that’s only part of my story. The icing on the cake is that I was born and raised right here in Huntersville. I grew up in church here, went to public school here, prepared for college here, and came back here to raise my family. So, when I decided to run for office, being a voice for Pottstown was the natural place to start. It’s the neighborhood that shaped me, and I wanted to make sure no one there, or anywhere in Huntersville, felt left out of the conversation again.

Over the past two years as your Commissioner, I’ve been busy putting that promise into action:

  • I set the expectation that developers must partner with us on smart growth and workforce housing. Already, 10 new workforce housing units have been established.

  • I made it clear that projects using remote land must come with real investment from developers, not just the taxpayers. I’m an advocate for projects where existing infrastructure is in place and has capacity.

  • And I’ve spent time with seniors, small business owners, and in neighborhoods like Pottstown (and Birkdale) to make sure their voices guide the decisions we make as a town.

Looking ahead, my priorities are clear.I’ll continue pressing for more workforce housing so teachers, firefighters, and healthcare workers can live in the community they serve. I’ll support small businesses by making sure they have access to the resources they need to succeed. And I’ll keep building stronger connections between residents, the town, the county, and nonprofits, because government should never feel like it’s working against you; it should feel like it’s working for you.

At the end of the day, my vision is simple: I want a Huntersville where every family can plant roots, every senior can age with dignity, and every resident can proudly say, this is my home.

And if you know me, you know this too: I’m here for the long haul. I grew up here, I’m raising my family here, and I’m committed to serving you here. So, let’s keep working, and laughing a little along the way to make Huntersville the very best it can be.

Thank you for the privilege to serve.
