LaToya Rivers is dedicated to making a lasting difference in the community where she was born and raised. Growing up in Huntersville’s Pottstown neighborhood, she attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, graduated from North Mecklenburg High School, and went on to earn her Bachelor of Applied Science in Political Science and Government. During this time, she was also a proud member of the Henry Frye Pre-Law Society.
Driven by a passion for learning and public service, LaToya continued her education while building her career. She earned a Master’s in Public Administration from Strayer University while serving Mecklenburg County as a Certified Fraud and Program Integrity Investigator.

LaToya decided to run for public office, and won a seat on the Huntersville Town Board of Commissioners.
It was the need for a seat at the table of government for Pottstown residents that first inspired LaToya to run.
With their support and encouragement, and her deep commitment to serving the broader Huntersville community, she was elected.
In her first term, she has already accomplished much for the town she proudly calls home. Now, with the knowledge and experience that come from serving as a commissioner, LaToya is ready to continue being a strong voice for all of Huntersville’s residents. Guided by the concerns and hopes of the community, her focus is on:
